1. Who We Are

Atmos is an independent mobile application developed and operated by Matthew Raifman. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this policy refer to the Atmos app and its developer. You can reach us at inquiries@matthewraifman.com.

2. Information We Collect

Atmos is designed to collect the minimum data necessary to provide accurate, hyperlocal shooting forecasts.

• Location data — Your precise GPS coordinates are collected while the app is in use and are transmitted directly from your device to third-party weather and sky-condition APIs over HTTPS. Location data is never stored on our servers, never sold, and never shared with any party other than the weather APIs listed in Section 4.
• Subscription status — If you purchase a subscription, RevenueCat processes and stores your subscription status and provides us with an anonymized subscriber identifier. We never receive or store your payment card details; all billing is handled by Apple.
• App preferences — Your unit settings (imperial or metric), notification preferences, and UI state (such as dismissed tooltips) are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data is never transmitted off your device.

We do not use any analytics SDKs, crash-reporting services that transmit personal data, or advertising networks.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Location — Used solely to fetch the weather, cloud, satellite, aurora, tide, and air-quality data needed to compute your hourly shooting scores. A new location request is made each time you open the app or manually refresh.
• Subscription status — Used to determine whether to show the full set of genre forecasts or a limited preview.
• Preferences — Used to display the app in your preferred units and to remember which onboarding tips you have seen.

4. Third-Party Services

Atmos relies on the following third-party services to deliver its features. Each service has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

• Pirate Weather — primary forecast data (temperature, wind, precipitation, cloud cover)
• Open-Meteo — high-resolution HRRR forecast data, multi-level cloud layers, and air quality index
• NOAA / National Weather Service — official weather alerts, GOES-18 satellite imagery, and aurora Kp-index forecasts
• RevenueCat — subscription management, receipt validation, and entitlement tracking
• Apple App Store — all in-app purchases and subscription billing; governed by Apple's Privacy Policy

Your device's GPS coordinates are transmitted to Pirate Weather, Open-Meteo, and NOAA as query parameters when fetching forecast data. No other personal information is shared with these services.

5. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal identifier.
• We do not create or maintain user accounts.
• We do not build advertising profiles or share any data for targeted advertising.
• We do not use session recording, heatmapping, or behavioral analytics tools.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to any third party.

6. Location Data Details

Atmos requests the "When In Use" location permission — meaning location is accessed only while the app is open and active on your screen, never in the background. Precise location is used to improve forecast accuracy for your exact position. You can change or revoke this permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Atmos. If location is denied, the app cannot display forecasts.

7. Data Retention and Storage

Weather data is cached locally on your device for up to three minutes to reduce redundant API calls and improve performance. This cache is cleared automatically and can also be wiped by reinstalling the app. We do not maintain any server-side database of user data. Because we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing to request deletion of.

8. Children's Privacy

Atmos is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

9. Security

All data transmitted by Atmos — including location coordinates sent to weather APIs — is transmitted over HTTPS using TLS encryption. App preferences stored locally on your device are protected by iOS's standard app sandboxing. We follow industry-standard practices to safeguard the data we handle.

10. Your Rights

Because Atmos does not collect or store personal data on our servers, most data-subject rights (access, correction, deletion, portability) are satisfied by the fact that all data stays on your device or is governed by Apple's App Store terms. 11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app, applicable law, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If changes are significant, we will notify users through an in-app notice. Continued use of Atmos after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
